When all is said and done ....

"True intimacy is not learnt by reading a book or listening to a teaching … it is learned by curling up in the arms of the Father and resting there. It is learnt by sharing time alone in His presence. An hour or two of quiet prayer will accomplish more than a life-time of sermons on the topic." - paulo

paulo (pictured) is a friend and fellow 24-7 prayer guy who lives in canmore, alberta. i came across this quote from about 3 years back while going through some old writings.

in a world where intimacy seems to be synonymous with nothing more than sexuality, this is a welcomed reminder that intimacy (that is, being fully known by another and, conversely, fully knowing another) is about time shared in one's presence and not simply a matter of exposed skin. it is a matter of exposed hearts and souls.

and spiritual intimacy ... with the One who "knit us together in our mothers womb"[1] ... begins with that same practice: finding rest and exposure of heart and soul in the presence of god ...
